Shadows of the Republic (SOTR) is a collection of quests for the 2d12 TTRPG Moss, Stone & Steel, set primarily in The Understates—subterranean colonies beneath the western islands of Barantine. These corrupt territories, under the rule of the Republic of Barantine—the largest and most prosperous land in Westland—thrive on trade and diplomacy yet remain vulnerable to hidden threats from envious adversaries. SOTR: Outbreak in Oricond, is a low level adventure, ideal for beginners, or for GMs to use as a side-quest. It is also compatible with other TTRPG game systems.

ADVENTURE SUMMARY

The adventurers will arrive at labyrinth of derelict districts in Oricond's Underworld called Irongate. Due to centuries of neglect, an ancient barricade that separates the fringes of the Underworld from the underground tunnels and chasms of The Night Land has collapsed. From the abyssal darkness, packs of dogmen have emerged, rampaging across Oricond; pillaging, sacking and slaughtering, revelling in the chaos.

Irongate is decisively lost. Oricond's Underworld governers have called for help from above, but no word has returned.

A reward of 100 gold crowns to those brave enough to venture into the infested streets, secure the entry to the Night Land, and defend the area until Understate troopers can collapse the entry with catapults.

The adventurers will brave through the hauntingly desolate streets of Irongate to reach the exposed cavern, where the commanders of the pack reside. They will discover that the pack is actually being led by a duergar sorcerer, to terrorise the Understates as perhaps part of a grander scheme.
